Quid pro quo is a Latin phrase used in English. This refers to an exchange of goods and services in which one transfer is contingent upon the other. It can mean a favor or advantage granted or expected in return for something.
Quid pro quo describes an agreement between two or more parties in which there is a reciprocal exchange of goods or services. The phrase is Latin for “something for something.” Courts may render a business contract void if it appears unfair or one-sided, and so a quid pro quo consideration is often warranted.
Usually, quid pro quo in business does not involve the exchange of money but involves the exchange of goods or services. Quid quo pro can be an unethical business practice if the services exchanged involve a violation of company rules.
