Uncertainty avoidance is a behavior in which individuals or cultures determine the amount of tolerance they have for unpredictability. When it comes to the tolerance of unpredictability, the areas that uncertainty avoidance deals with the most are technology, law, and religion.

What does it mean when uncertainty avoidance is high?

Individuals in cultures with high uncertainty avoidance try to reduce the occurrence of unknown and unusual circumstances and to proceed with careful changes step by step by planning and by implementing rules.

How does uncertainty avoidance affect decision-making?

The greater the uncertainty avoidance, the less likely individuals are to make decisions that are risky or that have unknown outcomes.
