Great Work with BNP Paribas Leading international bank for corporations, institutions and individuals. HQ in Paris, France with locations in 65 countries on 5 continents. The Challenge BNP Paribas S.A. is a French international banking group and the second largest bank in the European Union. It was formed through the merger of Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) and Paribas in 2000, although its corporate identity descends from its foundation in 1848 as a French national bank. BNP Paribas believes in openness, freedom, growth and the ability to change and adapt. The company also recognizes the importance of investing in their people. Because BNP Paribas has a wide and varied employee base, they wanted to find an engaging learning and development experience that would be flexible and customized to meet an individual’s needs. The goal with digital coaching was to offer employees the opportunity to make their own development plan and have sustained support with one person. They also recognized that engaging with coaches virtually also encouraged people to become more comfortable with digital platforms. “We were looking for different ways we could move into things more digital, and the breadth of what CoachHub offers in terms of us having a very diverse and dynamic workforce and the coaches they have―different backgrounds, work experience, coaching experience […]―aligned well with what we were trying to offer our leadership talent pipeline.” Rachel Le Maire, UK Talent Development Manager, BNP Paribas The result BNP Paribas developed a global initiative called “Leaders for Tomorrow” that offered digital coaching to their leadership talent pipeline. CoachHub supported them in harnessing and unleashing the potential of next generation leaders with a program tailored to all levels and career stages―from sales to managers as well as heads of departments and executives. To meet the needs of their international employee base, CoachHub delivered their multinational team of coaches who offered sessions in many different languages―as well as a breadth of experience to accommodate a diverse workforce. The collaboration with CoachHub supports BNP Paribas’ leaders of tomorrow with digital coaching. CoachHub coaching was tailor-made for each individual’s personal development plan, and offered them the opportunity to stretch, as well as build new competencies and behavioral skills. “We really wanted [our employees] to achieve their own personal goals and feel more fulfilled in their roles―and in our company. We could see that from where they had a particular starting point, by the end of [their coaching sessions], that they were able to feel like they’ve stretched themselves, that they’ve kind of raised their game. They’ve raised the bar.” Rachel Le Maire, UK Talent Development Manager, BNP Paribas CoachHub coaches work to not only help individuals reach their goals, but also to take the talent pool as a whole to the next level. During coaching sessions, coachees explore their skills and how to use them across the business. They also have conversations about their career aspirations. The coaching process encourages employees to stretch themselves to become high performers who are also confident in their leadership abilities. By offering coaching, BNP Paribas has embraced a new way of learning and working. Individuals reported seeing a notable difference and provided very positive feedback all around, including: Great flexibility. Individuals can schedule sessions with coaches at times that suit them best, such as 45 mins every two weeks. Efficiency. Because coaching sessions are virtual, coachees did not have to spend a lot of time away from work. Dependability. People have a set time to develop themselves and an established sounding board to discuss challenges. Positive investment. Coachees viewed the time they invested as something really worthwhile. Personalized. The one-on-one coaching is totally focussed on their needs and goals. Actionable. Coachees felt like they had really achieved something, learned, improved and challenged themselves. Measurable. Coaching delivers business-driven metrics, goals and outcomes. “It was amazing actually, how simple the process was from a coachee point of view. When you are going through the onboarding process, filling out the questionnaire [there are] some really interesting questions I found that I wouldn’t have thought―like what you would like your coaches values to be like? What do you value most in someone, whether it’s integrity or trust and things like that? That really shows you’ve thought about what needs to happen in the matching process.” Rachel Le Maire, UK Talent Development Manager, BNP Paribas Because BNP Paribas realized that digital coaching was really cost effective, they have been able to offer the solution of coaching to a much larger group of people. It is testament to the team at BNP Paribas to be offering this level of support to their people when they need it the most.
